Samantha Crook, the indoor and outdoor school record holder in the pole vault, enters her seventh year at Penn in 2012-13 as a volunteer assistant coach.

Crook will work primarily with the men's and women's pole vaulters. She will also assist with the sprinters and jumpers. In addition, Crook will assume administration and operation responsibilties for the men's program.

Crook is the only athlete in Penn women's track & field history to surpass 4.00 meters (13 feet, 1.5 inches) in the pole vault. She initially set the school record in the outdoor pole vault as a freshman in 2002 and has held the program's indoor and outdoor top marks since 2003.

A four-time letterwinner, Crook won the ECAC outdoor title in 2005 and reached the 2005 Outdoor NCAA Championships where she surpassed the four-meter mark. In addition, she finished in the top two at the Heptagonal Championships five times.

Crook attended Penn from 2001-05 and joined the Penn track teams as a volunteer pole vault coach in the fall of 2005.
