Robin Martin was named the James P. Tuppeny Head Coach of Men's Track & Field on June 1, 2012. He enters his fourth season in that capacity in 2015-16. A former All-American at Penn, Martin also serves as the middle distance coach for both the men's and women's programs.

In his first three seasons at the helm, the Penn men have continued a torrid rise to the top of the Ivy League. The Quakers have set the school record for NCAA qualifiers on two occasions, and this past season, the men earned their highest finish at Outdoor Heps in nearly a decade. In addition, Sam Mattis became the first Ivy Leaguer since 1949 to win the national championship in the discus, and Thomas Awad became the first Penn athlete to win the individual Heps cross country title since 1975.

Also under Martin, Maalik Reynolds (high jump) and Mattis each earned two first-team All-America accolades in the high jump, while Thomas Awad was an honorable mention selection as a freshman in the 5,000 meters. At the 2014 Penn Relays, Awad became the second Penn athlete to run a sub-four minute mile -- and the first in 40 years -- en route to the title in the Olympic Development mile. Meanwhile, Reynolds became the first Quaker since 1907 to win multiple Penn Relays titles in the high jump.

Martin spent four seasons on the Penn coaching staff prior to his appointment as head coach, including two seasons as an assistant coach for the Quakers, working primarily with sprints, middle distance and as an assistant cross country coach. He spent the previous two seasons as a volunteer assistant working with middle distance runners.

Martin worked with Darryll Oliver in each of his first three years on the coaching staff, which led to three straight NCAA Championships appearances in the 800 meters. In 2008-09, Martin helped to guide Oliver to the outdoor Heptagonal title in the event.

As an athlete, Martin was an 11-time Ivy League champion in the Red and Blue, and a two-time All-American. Martin was third at NCAA's as a junior in the 800 meters. He was also a world junior champion in the 4x400 relay. He holds the school records in the indoor 500 meters and is in the all-time top 10 at Penn in the indoor 800 meters (third) and 1,000 meters (second), and outdoor 400 meters (sixth) and 800 meters (third).

Martin attended Penn from 1996-2000. He currently lives in Philadelphia with his daughter, Audrey.
