2012-13 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA - Brianna Bradford, Katie Davis and Alyssa Baron were named 2012-13 team captains for the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team on Wednesday as announced by fourth-year head coach Mike McLaughlin.

"We are extremely lucky to have so many great leaders on this team," McLaughlin said. "This is such a well-deserved honor for all three of them. Alyssa has been a leader on the court for us since she first stepped on campus, and when our staff took over, Bri and Katie stayed committed to the program and bought into the changes we were making. Their belief in our system reverberated throughout the program, and their efforts to make this team better each day have not gone unnoticed by their coaches or teammates."

Davis and Bradford stayed committed to Penn during the coaching transition that took place prior to their freshman seasons. Davis has played in 38 games for the Quakers and was named the team's Most Dedicated Player following her sophomore campaign, where she played in a career-high 17 games. Bradford has played in all but one game for the Quakers over the past two seasons. As a sophomore, she finished third on the team in scoring (6.2 ppg), and second on the team in three-point percentage (34.2%) and made threes (26).

Baron has led the Ivy League in scoring in each of her first two seasons. She became the first player in Ivy League history to win the scoring title as a freshman. In just two seasons in a Penn uniform, Baron is a two-time All-Ivy recipient, a six-time Ivy Player of the Week and three-time Big 5 Player of the Week. Baron is Penn's first back-to-back first-team All-Big 5 recipient since Jewel Clark's three straight selections (2002-04). In 2011-12, she followed up her Ivy League and Big 5 Rookie of the Year campaign with another Ivy League scoring title.

The Quakers return 10 letterwinners and two-time Ivy League scoring champion, Alyssa Baron, from the 2011-12 squad that finished with the program's highest win total in seven years (13-15, 6-8 Ivy). In addition to the best start in school history, the 2011-12 Quakers opened 5-0 at home for the first time in eight years and set a program record with seven wins before the month of January. The Quakers also posted back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since 2003-04 and 2004-05.
