Ivy League Release

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the Ivy League's Preseason Media Poll, which came from the votes of two members of each school's media contingent as well as one national voter. After going 11-3 and finishing just a game behind Harvard in the championship race last year, the Quakers received 74 voting points.

Princeton, which went 10-4 last year and placed third behind the Crimson and the Quakers, are this year's pick to win the title; the Tigers had 134 voting points and received 16 of the 17 first-place votes. Harvard received that final first-place vote and picked up 109 voting points to earn second place in the poll.

Columbia placed third in the poll, with 90 points, followed by Cornell (80) and then the Quakers. Yale was sixth, with 55 points, followed closely by Brown (50). Dartmouth was picked eighth (20 points).
