PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team fell to No. 2 Princeton, 7-0, Saturday morning at the Tigers' Bedford Field.
With the win, Princeton (16-1, 7-0) gained the Ivy League title in outright fashion; in the process, the Tigers outscored the rest of the Ivy League by a staggering 45-1.
For Penn, the season ends with the Quakers going 9-8 overall and finishing 3-4 in Ivy play. The Red and Blue had a winning record overall for the first time since 2006, and the three Ivy wins were a program best since 2008.
Kathleen Sharkey (4 goals) and Allison Evans (3) provided all the scoring for Princeton, with Evans also providing an assist. Michelle Cesan and Molly Goodman also had assists in the game.
For Penn, Carly Sokach had a career-high 15 saves, 12 of them in the second half. Sarah Hasson had two shots, while Sunny Stirewalt had the Quakers' lone shot on goal. Julie Tahan and MaryRose Croddick were credited with shots, as well.
