A little more than a month ago, in the season-opening meet at Lehigh, Penn posted six victories, highlighted by the fourth-best shot put in school history from Theresa Picciallo in her collegiate debut. Picciallo and senior Charlotte Pope claimed the top two spots in the shot put. Sophomore Annie Holland won the high jump, senior Jillian Hart won the pole vault and freshman Eliana Yankelev was tops in the long jump. Junior Gabrielle Piper won the 60-meter hurdles and was the runner-up in the 60 meters, while sophomore Shakele Seaton posted her first collegiate victory in the 500 meters.
Last season at this meet, the Quakers placed third among 15 teams. Then-seniors Victoria Strickland and Veronica Salcido provided a one-two finish for the Quakers in the 1,000 meters. Lydia Ali scored in the 60 meters and 200 meters, and in the 60-meter hurdles, Gabrielle Piper added to Penn's scoring and ECAC qualifiers list when her finish of 8.78 placed her third in her heat and fourth overall. In addition, Brooke Hamscher, Jillian Hart and Davielle Brown all scored in the pole vault.
