PHILADELPHIA -
Though the men's swimming team received several key performances on Saturday, Penn was edged in an Ivy League tri-meet by Dartmouth (161-139) and Yale (176-124) at Sheerr Pool.

Chris Swanson was the first Penn swimmer to win an individual event on the day, taking down the field in the 1000 Freestyle. The freshman was mostly unchallenged throughout, cruising in with a winning time of 9:20.80 to defeat Dartmouth's second place finisher by nearly seven seconds. Swanson would later add a runner-up finish in the 500 Freestyle (4:33.80).

Penn's other event winner on the day was Dillon McHugh in the 100 Freestyle. McHugh teamed with Alex Porter for a 1-2 finish in the event by the sophomore tandem, with the two closing out in 45.91 and 46.06, respectively. Porter would finish second in one other race, the 50 Freestyle, with a time of 21.14.

Versatile junior Rhoads Worster had two top-three finishes on the day, coming in second in the 100 Backstroke (50.73) and third in the 100 Butterfly (50.28). Freshman Kyle Yu added third place finishes in both Breaststroke events, swimming the 100 in 57.92 and the 200 in 2:06.76.

The final top-three individual on Saturday was freshman Bradley Wachenfeld, who completed the 200 Freestyle in 1:42.50 to finish third.

Despite the pair of defeats, the day ended on a high note as the Penn 'A' team of John Germanis, Eric Schultz, Porter and McHugh won the 400 Freestyle Relay in 3:03.96. The foursome hit the wall over two seconds clear of both the Dartmouth and Yale 'A' teams.

The Quakers closed out their home schedule today, but still will have plenty of build-up before the Ivy League Championships. Next week, the Red and Blue travel to Providence and will take on Brown in an Ivy League dual meet on Jan. 19, beginning at 12 p.m.
