PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Keiera Ray earned her second Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor this season as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. She helped lead the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team to a near-historic win over Big 5 Villanova on Wednesday.

Ray had eight points on 4-of-8 (50%) shooting, collected four rebounds and had four assists in addition to two steals against the Wildcats, who are off to one of the best starts in school history, sit just outside the Top 25 and remain atop the Big East standings with No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 UConn. The Aurora, Ill., native also had a key drive and layup to pull Penn within two with 27.1 seconds left, and had just one turnover in 34 minutes.

This marks the second career Ivy award for Ray and the third weekly award of the season for the Quakers. Ray won the accolade after her 16-point, four-rebound, four-assist effort against Drexel on Dec. 21. Earlier this season, junior captain Alyssa Baron won Big 5 Player of the Week accolades on Dec. 4 after scored her 1,000th career point and led Penn to its first Big 5 win in nearly two years.

Ray and the Quakers have one more non-conference game remaining. The Red and Blue take on Big 5 rival Temple at The Palestra. Tip off is Wednesday at 7 p.m.
