Meet Information

PHILADELPHIA - Just two meets remain before the 2013 Heptagonal Championships. The University of Pennsylvania women's track & field team will spend the first of those two weekends at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge in State College, Pa., on Saturday.

The pentathlon and weight throw begin at 9 a.m., while the track events begin at 10:15 a.m. and the remainder of the field events are kicked off by the start of the pole vault at 12:30 p.m. The meet is set to conclude with the 4x400-meter relay at 7 p.m.

Last week, Penn finished fourth among 12 teams at the Armory behind top three finishes from Annie Holland, Elyssa Gensib, Eliana Yankelev, Davielle Brown and Jillian Hart. Brown, Hart and Brooke Hamscher finished second, third and fourth, respectively in the pole vault. Brown nearly set the school record as she cleared 3.80 meters (12 feet 5 1/2 inches). That was just one centimeter shy of the school standard. Holland nearly matched a career-best in the high jump before finishing third at 1.66 meters (5 feet 5 1/4 inches). Gensib was one of just three competitors to break the 10-minute mark in the 3,000 meters and Yankelev was third in the 60-meter hurdles.

In Penn's last visit to Ashenfelter III Indoor Track on Jan. 27 of last year, the Quakers recorded several all-time top-10 performances. Then-senior Victoria Strickland had a breakout day in State College, which started with her winning effort in the 500 meters. She claimed victory and qualified for ECAC's in the event with the third-best time in school history (1:14.26). Strickland was also a part of the third-best 4x400-meter relay of all-time along with teammates Paige Madison, Lydia Ali and Renee McDougall. The foursome raced to a finish of 3:47.11 - the fastest finish for Penn since 2006. Sophomore Christine Cohick reached 10th in the school record books in the 5,000 meters when she finished in a personal-best time of 17:20.45.

A full recap will be available at PennAthletics.com shortly after the conclusion of the meet.
