SHREVEPORT, La. – Kirsten Strausbaugh has once again shined in individual competition for the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics squad. The senior co-captain, along with three of her teammates, competed at the USAG individual finals on Sunday afternoon, hosted by Centenary College in Shreveport, La. Strausbaugh tied her career high with a 9.850 on bars to win the individual title.
Carissa Lim and Dana Bonincontri competed for Penn on vault. The freshman placed 10th with a 9.625, while Bonincontri placed 11th with a 9.500. Additionally, Strausbaugh competed as the only Quaker on beam and floor, placing 10th and fifth with a 9.700 and a 9.800, respectively.
Penn had two outstanding performances and sent both Megan Milavec and Strausbaugh to the podium for bars. Milavec tied her career high with a 9.800 for the second day of competition in a row, which was good enough to tie for second on the afternoon. All of that was in addition to Strausbaugh’s title-winning 9.850, which also ties for the seventh-highest score in program history.
The Red and Blue also had six gymnasts combine for a total of 12 USAG All-America honors after their outstanding individual performances during the team preliminaries:
t-10. Kirsten Strausbaugh – 9.700
t-5. Kirsten Strausbaugh – 9.800
