PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania softball team had one of its own honored by the Ivy League on Tuesday afternoon. Alexis Borden was named Co-Ivy League Pitcher of the Week along with Dartmouth’s Kristen Rumley. This was the Penn sophomore’s third such award of the season.
Borden posted a 4-1 record in five appearances last week, including three wins over Cornell over the weekend. The Yorba Linda, Calif. native factored into all four games against the Big Red, earning her 12th, 13th and 14th wins of the season to help the Quakers to the 3-1 series victory. Additionally, her efforts helped the Red and Blue clinch at least a share of the South Division title for the second season in a row.
Penn will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when it hosts Temple for its final non-conference game of the regular season. Then during the weekend the Quakers will play Columbia in a home-and-home doubleheader series, first visiting the Lions for two games on Friday afternoon and then hosting them for two on Saturday.
