JERUSALEM, ISRAEL - Rising senior Alyssa Baron helped USA women's basketball earn gold at the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel. Baron averaged double digits for Team USA and scored 16 points in the gold medal game on Monday against Israel.

Team USA swept through the round-robin competition with three wins in three games. In the opener, Baron's team-high 28 points led the Americans to a narrow victory over Israel, 75-69. Team USA then added wins over Canada, 66-41, and Austrailia, 86-38, to earn the top seed heading into tournament play.

In the semifinals, Baron was one of four players in double figures with 10 points as the Americans trounced Austrailia, 90-45. Then with the gold medal on the line, Team USA pulled away early and held off Israel, 72-56. Baron finished with an average of 14.6 points per game.

The Maccabiah Games is the third-largest sporting event in the world, with more than 1,100 U.S. athletes participating this year and 7,000 total athletes representing more than 50 countries. The Games are held every four years and serve as an international sporting event for Jewish athletes.
