PHILADELPHIA – From week to week, it seems as if a different player has stepped up to keep Penn unbeaten in the Ivy League and continue the climb to the top of the Ancient Eight table. This past weekend, it was Stephen Baker who drove Penn’s comeback against Yale, factoring in on all three goals as the Quakers twice rallied to tie the match before winning in overtime.

Based off of his game-winning goal, two assist performance, Baker was in line for some recognition – and he has earned it. On Monday, Baker was named Ivy League Player of the Week, ECAC Player of the Week and Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Week while earning a spot on CollegeSoccerNews.com’s National Team of the Week. Tuesday morning, Baker earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Week and was honored as CollegeSoccerMadness.com's Ivy Player of the Week.

Twice, Baker whipped up assists to bring Penn level in the match, each a served up ball from a Penn corner which found the head of a Penn player and then the back of the net. Each of those came in the second, the final assist tallied on a Jonny Dolezal goal in the 87’.

In overtime, Baker pounced on a loose ball after a Yale turnover, getting the last touch on a ball in the 94’ to give Penn its first overtime win since 2011.

Baked was joined in earning Philadelphia Soccer Six recognition by Matt Poplawski. The freshman, who was on the receiving end of Baker's first assist, was named PS6 Rookie of the Week.

Baker, Poplawski and the Quakers are back on the field Tuesday night against No. 9 Penn State at Rhodes Field with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
