PHILADELPHIA – After a fall season that included two home matches at the Hamlin Tennis Center, The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team will host nine home matches in 2014 and travel to California for its spring trip.
The Quakers will open the spring season with five straight home matches, starting with Old Dominion (Jan. 25) and neighbor Drexel (Jan. 31). Penn then welcomes Maryland (Feb. 1), Akron (Feb. 7) and Rutgers (Feb. 9), before heading on the road for the first time in the new year.
The women travel to State College, Pa., to take on Marshall and Penn State on Feb. 15 and 16, respectively. Those matches close out competitive action until March.
From March 10-14 the Quakers will enjoy a spring trip to California, where they will take on Fairleigh Dickinson, Gonzaga and Niagara in Palm Springs. They continue in California, squaring off against UC-Irvine before returning home to Philadelphia.
After arriving back in Philadelphia, a match against city rival Temple (March 22) awaits Penn before Ivy play begins on the road at Princeton (March 29).
April begins with Ivy road matches at Brown (April 4) and Yale (April 5), and continues with the Red and Blue hosting Dartmouth (April 12) and Harvard (April 13). The regular season will conclude with an Ivy road match against Columbia (April 18) and a league home match against Cornell (April 20).
