#LMRanks Countdown (Penn to be featured Jan. 22)

PHILADELPHIA - Lacrosse Magazine announed its 2014 Preseaso Poll, and seven-time defending Ivy League champion Penn will enter the 2014 season ranked No. 13.

The No. 13 ranking for the Quakers is the highest for any Ivy League program, with No. 19 Princeton the other Ancient Eight program to earn a spot in Inside Lacrosse's preseason Top-20. The Quakers will play five of the Top-20 teams in the preseason poll during the 2014 regular season, including a road trip to No. 1 North Carolina (Mar. 2) and a home date with No. 2 Maryland (Mar. 19) at Franklin Field. Other ranked opponents for the Red and Blue include No. 4 Northwestern (Apr. 6 at Franklin Field), No. 9 Georgetown (Apr. 1 in D.C.) and a road contest at No. 19 Princeton on Apr. 16.

Last year, Penn played five games against teams ranked inside the Top 20 at the time, going 2-3 in those games en route to a seventh consectuve Ivy League regular season title. That streak currently sits as the longest active run of conference championships in Division I.

The Quakers return a total of 12 letterwinners for 2014, including unaimous first-team All-Ivy selections Lucy Ferguson and Meg Markham.

Penn opens the 2014 season Feb. 22 against Delaware at 1 p.m. at Franklin Field.
