PHILADELPHIA – It’s been roughly a month and a half since the University of Pennsylvania fencing teams competed, and the Quakers are ready to ring in the new year and get back into action. The Red and Blue will travel to State College on Sunday for the Penn State Invitational, where bouts are set to begin at 9 a.m.

During the time lapse, Penn recently concluded their annual seven day winter training camp (1/4-1/10). Several team members also trained at their local club or gym.

“We continue to train hard but will focus on strategy and endurance more,” said head fencing coach Andy Ma. “The PSU Invitational is a good test for our athletes after the long break.”

With expectations set high for the the remaining of the season, the Quakers are ready to set the tone for 2014, starting with the Penn State Invitational.
