PHILADELPHIA - Sydney Stipanovich became the first freshman in Ivy League history to be named Player of the Week three times as she swept the weekly conference honors for the second straight week. In guiding the University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team to a weekend sweep of Ivy opponents, Stipanovich was named co-Ivy League Player and co-Ivy League Rookie of the Week as well as Big 5 Player of the Week on Monday.

Stipanovich has now won the Ivy League's weekly rookie award five times and was also Player of the Week on Dec. 23 and Jan. 27. She shared each award this week with Cornell's Nia Marshall. This is her second straight and second career Big 5 honor.

Stipanovich set another school record, averaged a double-double and nearly picked up the program's first-ever triple-double as Penn swept Dartmouth and previously-unbeaten Harvard last week. The St. Louis, Mo., native averaged 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocks. She shot at a 57.1 percent clip and had just one turnover in 68 minutes.

Against the Big Green on Friday, Stipanovich finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds in addition to two blocks, and Penn cruised to a 71-53 victory. The next night, Penn crushed the first-place Crimson, 67-38 - the largest margin of victory all-time over Harvard and the fewest points the Quakers have ever allowed in the series. Stipanovich was a big reason for both as she posted impressive numbers on each end of the court. The freshman had 15 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks (school record and third-most blocks all-time in an Ivy League game).

In all, Penn has now won five Ivy League Player of the Week awards this season - Katy Allen won on Dec. 23 and Alyssa Baron claimed the other on Dec. 9. Baron also earned Penn's only other Big 5 Player of the Week accolade this year on Dec. 9.

Up next for Stipanovich and the Quakers is the first Ivy League road trip of the season. Penn takes the tour through the Empire State with a stop in Ithaca, N.Y., on Friday to take on Cornell, and then on to New York City to face Columbia. Both games tip off at 7 p.m. and can be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network.
