PHILADELPHIA – After posting a season-high team score at Temple last weekend, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team is seeking to build upon the improvements it has made against SUNY Brockport, SUNY Cortland and Temple this Saturday.
Penn has been improving weekly with new faces in the lineup, while having to manage injuries to key contributors.
The four have been the core of the lineup for Penn thus far, with freshman Kelly Tan now beginning to compete on three events and sophomore Amber Hu (Beam and Bars) and juniors Wynne Levy (Vault) and Makeda Constable (Bars) also providing depth to the Quakers lineup.
Penn will be seeing inter-city rival Temple for the third time this season, and the second consecutive weekend. The Owls finished first last weekend at their own Ken Anderson Memorial Inviational. The Quakers finished two places behind Temple in third.
SUNY Brockport heads to Philadelphia with a 3-0 record in dual meets, and a third-place finish in its only other quad-meet of the season at Brown.
Also coming from New York is SUNY Cortland, which comes into the weekend with a 1-2 dual meet record, and a second-place finish in a tri-meet earlier this year.
This Saturday’s meet will take place in Rockwell Gym, located inside Hutchinson Gymnasium, beginning at 12 p.m.
