PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania football team held a thank-a-thon on Tuesday in the Jack LeFort Football Office Complex, with more than 30 members of the Penn football team calling and writing letters to over 250 donors to thank them for their contributions to the program. The student-athletes enjoyed connecting with parents, fans, season ticket holders, and former players from teams throughout various decades, while also gaining an understanding and appreciation of the philanthropic aspect of the program as well.

“The Penn Football family is an extremely tight knit group, and the level of support we feel as players is really special,” said senior captain Dan Wilk. “It’s important for us to show our appreciation to this group for making our experience at Penn as memorable as possible.”

The Penn Football annual fund is responsible for the team’s day to day operations, including team travel and meals, recruiting travel for coaches, equipment upgrades, among other expenses. The level of impact that the annual fund has on the program magnifies the significance of the donor’s gift towards the program.

“We are very fortunate to have an extremely passionate alumni base that is incredibly generous to our program. This event is a way for us to display the level of gratitude that we have for this special group of people,” Head Coach Al Bagnoli shared. “This is also a great opportunity for our kids to connect with those that shared similar experiences during their time at Penn, building a network and forming relationships that will last for years well beyond their careers here.”

The Quakers open their 138th season on Sept. 20 at Jacksonville.
