PHILADELPHIA – Freshman Anaka Alankamony and sophomore Yan Xin Tan have recently been named to the 2013-14 Women’s Squash All-Ivy team, in helping lead the University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team to an overall record of 11-4, and a second-place, 6-1 record in the Ivy League.
Playing in the No. 1 position as a freshman, Alankamony posted a 6-5 overall record and a 4-1 Ivy League record. She won Ivy League matches against Dartmouth, Princeton and Columbia, and the deciding match, 3-2, versus Yale.
Being recognized for her play for the second consecutive year, Tan won the 2012-13 Ivy League Rookie of the Year a season ago in addition to being named to the All-Ivy team. This year, Tan was name to the All-Ivy team, with an 8-7 overall record, and 5-2 record in the Ivy League playing in the first and second positions for Penn. Tan won Ivy League matches against Dartmouth, Princeton, Brown, Cornell, and Columbia.
The Quakers finished the season fourth in the country after playing in the College Squash Association (CSA) Howe Cup.
