NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - In its final fall race of 2013, the freshmen crews of Penn's heavyweight rowing team placed second out fo eight schools at the Rutgers Fall Classic.
The Rutgers Fall Classic was contested as a head race with the cumulative time of each school's top two boats counting in the final results.
The Quakers were second (13:21) and seventh (13:38) in the race, totalling a time of 26:59 which was just one second ahead of George Washington which had the fourth (13:26) and fifth (13:34) crews out of the 21 which entered the race. Navy was first overall with a combined time of 26:28 after posting the winning crew (13:07) and a boat which tied Penn for second in 13:21.
Penn's third boat was 13th overall, finishing in 14:11.
