Women's Rowing Takes Sixth at Ivy Championships

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team took sixth place in the overall point standings at the Ivy League Championships, which took place Sunday on the Cooper River.

Penn scored 34 points on the day, which was ahead of Cornell (31) and well ahead of Columbia (9). Dartmouth (40) was just ahead of the Quakers.

Penn's overall performance was highlighted by the varsity 4 C, which took first place out of five boats in its final on Sunday afternoon. The Quakers covered the 2,000-meter course in 7:38.684, which was well ahead of second-place Dartmouth (7:52.012) and third-place Radcliffe (7:55.134).

In the varsity 8 races, Penn was unable to advance to the grand final in the morning heats, but easily defeated Columbia in the afternoon's petite final with a time of 6:36.460.

Penn's second varsity 8 advanced to the grand final on Sunday, and finished fifth overall with a time of 6:52.215 in the final. The third varsity 8, meanwhile, took fourth place in its race in 6:53.263.

The varsity 4 A raced in the petite final on Sunday afternoon and won in 7:41.768, while the varsity 4 B took fifth overall in 7:55.081.

Brown took the overall points victory on Sunday, with 81, while Princeton took the championship in the varsity 8 race which was ahead of the Bears and third-place Radcliffe.
