ITA National Doubles Rankings

Sol Eskenazi was dominant in her rookie season for Penn’s women’s tennis program, earning multiple honors on a regional and Ivy League level. Her strong play as both a singles and doubles player was also reflected in the recently-released final ITA Rankings for 2012.

A first-team All-Ivy selection in doubles, Eskenazi team with Jules Rodin to post a 10-4 record at No. 1 doubles this season, and earned a national ranking of No. 70 in doubles. The duo went 3-1 in the spring against pairs featured inside the national rankings.

Eskenazi was also atop Penn’s ladder in singles during the 2011-12 campaign, earning ITA Northeast Region and Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors. Inside the Northeast Region, Eskenazi's performance earned her a final ranking of No. 4. A first-team All-Ivy selection, Eskenazi also held down the No. 1 singles spot to the tune of a 19-5 record overall, winning nine of her last 11 down the stretch. She won the A flight of her first collegiate tournament, storming to the Columbia Invitational crown and earning a seeded position at the ITA Regional.

Eskenazi and Rodin are part of a young Penn program which is re-establishing its presence on a national level. The Quakers were 7-11 overall this season, and 2-5 inside a very competitive Ivy League. Penn ended the 2012 campaign ranked No. 10 as a team in the Northeast Region by the ITA, with a strong case to move up via a 4-3 win over No. 5 Harvard. The Red and Blue will return six of seven spring season starters for 2012-13, with junior second-team All-Ivy player Stephanie Do also set to lead the Quakers.
