NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Penn women's golf team finished 11th out of 16 teams at the Yale Fall Intercollegiate in the Quakers' first tournament of 2012-13. The event was played from Friday to Sunday at The Course at Yale, which played at par-72 for the weekend.

Penn shot 330 as a team in Friday's first round, but came back with 312 on Saturday and another 312 on Sunday to close at 954. Nova Southeastern easily won the team title, shooting 859 to best second-place Penn State by 26 strokes. Among the several Ivy teams in the field, Harvard was third (886), host Yale tied for fourth (909), Princeton was eighth (919), Brown was 10th (945) and Dartmouth was 14th (977).

Individually, Amanda Chin recovered from a first-round struggle to go low on the weekend and set a program record in the process. After an opening-round 81, she shot a 74 on Saturday and then carded a staggering 68 on Sunday to finish at 223 and tied for 14th in the field. The Sunday 68 was the low individual round in the Penn women's golf program's history, besting a 69 put up by Isabel Han at this same tournament in 2010.

Han, now a senior, carded 79-77-78--234 and tied for 38th, while Olivia Chang tied for 56th after shooting 86-79-79--244 for the weekend. Newcomer Allison Oakes shot 88-82-87--237 and tied for 75th, while Libby Hooton (84-88-94--266) finished 82nd.

Nova SE went 1-2-3 in the individual race, with Daniela Ortiz taking medalist honors by six strokes over teammate Abbey Gittings.

Penn is next in action at the ECAC Championships, which will take place this Friday and Saturday at Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
