PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team dominated pretty much from start to finish on Sunday, defeating Radford 4-0 at Franklin Field.

The Quakers (6-5) had four different goalscorers in the game, while at the other end the defense pitched its first shutout of 2012. Penn outshot Radford 18-2, and Carly Sokach was not called upon to make any saves in Sunday's win.

Penn got all the scoring it would need before the match was 15 minutes old when an Elizabeth Hitti shot from the right side was re-directed into the far corner by Sunny Stirewalt. The Quakers had two other goals called back in the half as they outshot the Highlanders 9-0 in the stanza.

There was no need to call any goals back in the second half, as the Red and Blue scored three more times. The first came on a beautiful play that saw Hitti fire a long ball into the goal area. The Radford defense seemed to think the ball was heading out of bounds past the goal, but instead Julie Tahan was behind them and caught the napping Highlanders off guard as she re-directed the shot into the goal.

Helene Caniglia had Penn's third goal off a corner that she started. A first Penn shot off the corner was saved, and then Emily Corcoran sent the ball in from the right side that was kept out of the goal by a Radford defender. It ended up on Caniglia's stick at the left post, and she easily potted the shot. Corcoran was the recipient on Penn's fourth tally, as she was able to push Alex Agathis' shot that looked like it might be saved and going wide. In both cases, the goals were their first of the season.

Penn is back into Ivy League action at home this Friday, hosting Columbia at 6:15 p.m. on Franklin Field.
