PHILADELPHIA – The fifth-ranked Penn women’s squash team has yet to lose a set on the young season after it defeated No. 23 Drexel, 9-0, at the Kline and Specter Squash Center Wednesday night. It was the first-ever meeting between the two programs. “It was a solid performance by the women versus an improving Drexel team,” head coach Jack Wyant said. Even more impressive, Penn (3-0) earned yet another dominant victory without senior tri-captains Nabilla Ariffin, Pia Trikha, and Stephanie Vogel, as well as sophomore Colleen Fehm. The Quakers showcased their depth against the Dragons’ second-year varsity program. Freshman Yan Xin took over the No. 1 spot for Ariffin, and did not skip a beat. She defeated Kaitlyn Money in straight sets. Rachael Goh, who lost just three games, and Yarden Odinak continued their winning ways at No. 2 and 3 in straight sets as well. The next match for Penn will be Friday when they travel to Williamstown, Mass. for a 4:30 p.m. match against Williams. The Red and Blue will then return to action after the break for a weekend of Ivy League action when Harvard and Dartmouth come to the Ringe Courts Jan. 12 and 13.
