Day Two Results (pdf)

GAMBIER, Ohio -
The men's swimming team has the advantage heading into Saturday's action, but the lead is anything but safe as they look to win Kenyon's Total Performance Invitational for a third consecutive year. At 848.5 points, the Quakers hold a 96-point lead on Kenyon (752.5) heading into the last day of competition. The other four teams in the field all have less than 300 points apiece.

The night began with the 200 Freestyle Relay. Though Penn didn't get the victory, both its 'A' and 'B' teams placed in the top three. The 'A' team of Rhoads Worster, Alex Porter, Eric Schultz and Kevin Intrieri finished second with a time of 1:21.87.

The Quakers didn't really get things rolling until the middle stages of Friday night's finals. Kyle Yu started it with a win in the 100 Breaststroke, coming home in a time of 56.06. Next up was Worster, who proceeded to set a school record in the 100 Backstroke, breaking Nick Johnson's time from 2011. Worster clinched the victory with a time of 49.60.

Both Worster and Yu would play large roles in the final event of the evening, the 400 Medley Relay. Penn's 'A' team won the event with those two swimming the opening two legs, and Samuel Haley and Porter closing it out in 3:20.38.

Other top finishers for the Red and Blue on the evening included Haley in the 200 Butterfly (second place, 1:50.96), Chris Swanson in the 200 Freestyle (third place, 1:40.52), Brendan Crystal in the 400 IM (fifth place, 4:03.29) and Schultz in the 50 Freestyle (fourth place, 20.80).

Preliminaries resume tomorrow morning from the Kenyon Aquatic Center beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Total Performance Invitational will close out with championship and consolation finals tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m.
