PHILADELPHIA -
On Jan. 24, members of Penn's nationally-ranked women's lacrosse program joined with Villanova University and the Edward O'Malley Athletic Association for a free lacrosse clinic for girls in grades 2-8.

Approached about the clinic by Philly Girls in Motion, a volunteer-driven organization seeking to spread fitness and team sport activities to youth girls in the Philadelphia region, the Quakers and Wildcats took the opportunity to showcase women's lacrosse to a potential new generation of players.

"When you look at all the players on our team, they have had tremendous opportunities along the way," assistant coach Kerri Whitaker said. "So it was really great to be able to be in a setting where we could provide opportunities for these girls to learn the sport and compete."

The Quakers, who have won six consecutive Ivy League championships, will begin 2013 ranked No. 11 in the country. Their first game of the season is at home at Franklin Field against Drexel on Feb. 23 at 1 p.m.
