Gymnastics Drops Dual Meet at UNC on Saturday |

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In its final tune-up before preparing to defend last season’s ECAC Championship, the Penn gymnastics team dropped its final dual match of the season on Friday against North Carolina, 194.075-191.525, in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Quakers will head to Ithaca, N.Y. next on March 23 for the ECACs in their final team meet of the season. Penn started off the afternoon on the uneven bars and were led by Kirsten Strausbaugh and Dana Bonincontri. The two seniors finished seventh and eighth with a 9.775 and 9.750, respectively, as the Quakers’ top individual finishers. Vault was up next for the Red and Blue and Carissa Lim (9.650), Strausbaugh and Wynne Levy were the top three for Penn in that event. Lim finished fourth while Strausbaugh and Levy tied for sixth, each scoring a 9.575. Floor was up next for Penn and the Red and Blue were led by Strausbaugh, who finished sixth with a 9.775. She was followed up by Elyse Shenberger who finished seventh with a 9.700. The Quakers finished the day on beam and Bonincontri (9.700) and Keolamau Yee (9.675) led the way. The two finished second and third, respectively, and were followed up by Strausbaugh who finished tied for fourth with a 9.650. Strausbaugh was Penn’s top all-around performer against the Tar Heels as the senior finished second overall with a 38.775.
