PRINCETON, N.J. - Freshman Kelsey Hay and senior Morgan Wheeler both scored in the javelin for the University of Pennsylvania women's track and field team this weekend at the ECAC Championships in Princeton's Weaver Stadium.

Penn was the only school to have multiple scorers in the javelin. Hay was sixth after her second toss of the day landed at 45.12 meters (148 feet). Her teammate was just a few feet behind. Wheeler was eighth heading into the finals and moved into seventh with her second-to-last throw of the day landing at 44.58 meters (146-03 ft.).

In the 800 meters, junior Chelsea Delaney finished 16th with a career-best time of 2:09.06. She entered the meet in Penn's all-time top 10, but moved up to seventh place in the school record book with that mark.

Junior Gabrielle Piper qualified for the finals of the 100-meter hurdles. She finished in 14.05 in the preliminaries. Then in the finals, she finished 11th at 14.28. Sophomore Heather Bong finished 12th in the 200 meters with a finish of 24.32.

In addition to Hay and Wheeler in the field, freshman Theresa Picciallo finished 11th overall in the shot put in her first ECAC meet. Her best toss measured 13.67 meters (44-10.25 ft.).

Of the 54 teams that earned points at the meet, the Quakers placed 40th overall with five points. Connecticut won the meet with 73 points.

Next up, in each event, the top 48 times and marks in the East region qualify for the first round of the NCAA Championships. The full list of qualifiers will be announced in the upcoming week.
