PHILADELPHIA – Alex Iqbal, a rising junior at the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the Quakers' field hockey program, is spending her summer in India as part of the University’s Center for the Advanced Study of India (CASI). This group provides funding and support to graduate and undergraduate students at Penn to conduct independent research and volunteer internships during the summer months.
Iqbal -- who was an All-Ivy player as a freshman, but missed all of last year due to injury -- is doing an internship with the Central Himalayan Rural Action Group (CHIRAG), located in the northern region of Uttarakhand. As an undergraduate in the Wharton School of Business, studying Marketing & Operations and Information Technology, she will be focusing on their education and business areas.
Penn Athletics has been linking up to Alex’s blog postings, of which there are expected to be eight during her trip. Check this link throughout the summer to follow her amazing opportunity!
