PHILADELPHIA – The Quakers’ Penn 2 team was the only team to go undefeated in dual matches in the Penn Invitational. Three players on that squad, senior Nikola Kocovic, junior Jeremy Court, and freshman Matt Nardella won all of their singles and doubles matches.

Penn 2 had an overall record of 22-2 in singles and 11-1 in doubles over the entire weekend. On Friday, that crew swept all their singles and doubles matches versus Duquesne and then Niagara. The team was also triumphant against Stony Brook on Saturday and finally St. John’s on Sunday. Kocovic did not drop a set in No.1 singles or No. 2 doubles with Nardella in those four matches, and fellow senior Zach Katz also did not lose a set playing singles.

Another player to do well for the Red and Blue was freshman Marshall Sharp, who won all of his matches playing at No. 1 singles on the Penn 1 team. One of this victories included defeating Brown’s Will Spector on Saturday 6-5(5), 3-6, 6-2 and he was the only Quaker to win in that dual match. Sophomore Zach Lessen won all of his singles matches as well, filling in on Monmouth’s team on Friday and Saturday and then playing on Penn 1 on Sunday.

Below are the results for all Penn matches from the tournament. Other results can be seen in the respective PDFs for each day. Note that those do not include matches played at Temple’s courts.

Up next for the Quakers will be the ITA Regionals at New Haven, Conn. Oct. 17-22.
