Head of the Schuylkill Results

Princeton Chase Results

PHILADELPHIA/PRINCETON, N.J. - Quite a finish to the Fall season for the University of Pennsylvania lightweights. After a win at the Head of the Charles last week, the Quakers followed up that performance with a victory at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday and finished as the top freshman lightweight crew on Sunday at the Princeton Chase.

At the Head of the Schuylkill, Penn rowed to victory in the heavyweight freshman race. The Quakers were tops with a time of 13:31.36. That was just about six seconds faster than the Princeton lightweights, who finished as the runner up. The second Penn boat was seventh among the 22 teams and finished in 14:58.47.

At the Princeton Chase, the freshman 8 were the top lightweight crew and finished behind just three heavyweight boats for a fourth-place finish overall. The Quakers finished in 14:06.660 which was seven seconds better than the nearest lightweight boat. In addition, Penn's varsity was sixth overall with a finish of 13:44.257 which bested the top boats from Navy, Columbia and Dartmouth. The second varsity was 22nd with a time of 14:51.136 and beat out their counterparts from Dartmouth and Georgetown. In the fours, Penn finished ninth in 15:30.952.

The two regattas marked the end of Fall competition for the Red and Blue. Penn now prepares for the spring season where competition will begin again in late March.
