PHILADELPHIA - Inside Lacrosse has come out with its 2014 Face-Off Yearbook, and the University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team continues to get recognition under head coach Mike Murphy. The Quakers were picked 11th in IL’s preseason national poll, and three players -- seniors Zack Losco (midfield), Maxx Meyer (defense) and Brian Feeney (goalkeeper) -- received preseason All-America honorable mention.
Penn's No. 11 preseason ranking was made by the Inside Lacrosse staff. Among Ivy League teams, only Yale (10th) is ahead of the Quakers. Princeton (13th) and Cornell (17th) are also in the preseason Top 20.
In addition, Penn was picked fourth in the Ivy League preview, with Losco and Feeney receiving preseason All-Ivy recognition. The conference standings and All-Ivy team was projected by the Ancient Eight coaches.
Penn will open its 2014 season on Friday, Feb. 21 when the Quakers face the defending NCAA champion Duke in Durham, N.C. The Red and Blue’s home opener will come four days later, when they host city rival Saint Joseph’s.
Penn's 2014 schedule features eight teams ranked in IL's preseason poll (teams are shown in the order in which they appear on the Quakers' schedule): Duke (1), Denver (4), Villanova (18), Princeton (13), Cornell (17), Yale (10), Towson (20), and St. John's (16).
