PHILADELPHIA – After defeating No. 4 Princeton 6-3 on Wednesday evening, the University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team will welcome two more top-10 opponents to Ringe Courts this weekend, facing No. 5 Yale on Saturday and No. 10 Brown on Sunday.
Taking on Yale (12-1, 2-0 Ivy) at 1 p.m. Saturday, the Quakers will look for co-captains Courtney Jones and Chloe Blacker to continue to lead the way. The duo have been the foundation for Penn’s ladder all year, providing leadership and encouragement to younger players like sophomores Yan Xin Tan, Carey Celata, Camille Lanier, and freshman Anaka Alankamony and Michelle Wong.
Penn has won six of the last eight years against the Bulldogs, with the two losses decided by one individual match. The Quakers won last year’s matchup in New Haven, 7-2.
Following the match on Saturday, Penn squash will host a 125th Jubilee dinner and program. The event will have over 300 former men's and women's squash members, family and friends in attendance to celebrate the history of Penn squash.
Brown (9-2, 0-2 Ivy) will visit on Sunday, coming off a doublheader against Princeton and Stanford in Trenton, N.J. on Saturday. The Bears will have a tough task in trying to defeat the Tigers and Quakers in one weekend. Penn has won the last 12 meetings against Brown, defeating the Bears last year 8-1 in Providence.
Penn and Brown face off at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
