PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer player Ana Chevtchenko has again been called up to Russia’s full national side, this time for a pair of matches against the United States.

The Russians and the U.S. team will meet twice in the next week here in the States, the first match taking place Saturday (Feb. 8) at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla., and the second taking place next Wednesday (Feb. 12) at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The United States and Russia will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, and again at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday. Both matches will air on the U.S. Soccer website.

“I am extremely happy that Ana is getting to represent her country against the U.S. women’s national team this week,” said Penn’s head coach, Darren Ambrose. “Representing your country is the highest honor you can get in sports, and is one Ana has worked hard to achieve. We are proud of her and excited to see her compete against the United States.”

Chevtchenko, a freshman midfielder who missed most of the 2013 Penn season due to injury, was called up to Russia’s national team during the college season for its World Cup qualifier against Germany. Though she was born in Portland, Oregon and continues to live there with her family, Chevtchenko has dual Russian citizenship which allows her to play for Russia’s national team.
