PRINCETON, N.J. – In a repeat of its January regular season match, the third-ranked University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team was defeated by second-ranked Trinity, Conn., 6-3, on Saturday afternoon in the College Squash Association’s (CSA) Howe Cup semifinal in Princeton, N.J.

Penn (11-3) fell to the Bantams for the second time this season, managing to win in only three of the nine positions on the ladder.

The Quakers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Trinity (13-1) when Camille Lanier clinched a 3-0 victory in the sixth position. After dropping the match at the No. 3 position, Penn’s Ailsa Agnew was trailing 0-2 in her match before clawing all the way back to win, 3-2, and giving the Quakers a 2-1 advantage.

Trinity took back the advantage over Penn, winning in the No. 2 and No. 5 positions to lead 3-2, before senior Chloe Blacker won in five games to tie the match, 3-3.

Even with the momentum, the Quakers were unable to secure any more individual matches against the Bantams, thus ending their run at the Howe Cup finals.

Penn will face No. 4 Yale in the third/fourth place match tomorrow at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs (16-4) fell to No. 1 Harvard in their semifinal, 6-3.
