Swim Teams Get Academic Recognition From CSCAA

PHILADELPHIA - The College Swimming Coaches Association of American (CSCAA) announced its 2014 Spring CSCAA Scholar All-American Team supported by Nike Swim, and both the University of Pennsylvania men's and women's teams were recognized for their efforts in the classroom.

The CSCAA Scholar All-American Team Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams that have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

The Penn men's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.16, a mark that tied for 39th among all NCAA Division I institutions. Only 71 teams in the nation met the standards required to be eligible for this award.

On the women's side, Penn had a combined GPA of 3.21 which placed the Quakers in a group of 150 NCAA Division I teams that reached the grade-point average necessary to receive the Scholar All-American Team recognition.
