IWLCA Academic Honor Squads

PHILADELPHIA  - The University of Pennsylvania’s women's lacrosse team excelled on the field in 2014, winning an eighth consecutive Ivy League championship. Along the way, the Quakers were starring in the classroom as well, earning recognition from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as an Academic Honor Squad for 2014.

The Red and Blue were one of 84 Division I programs honored for having a team GPA of 3.0 or better. All eight Ivy League programs were honored.

Penn won a record eighth consecutive Ivy League women’s lacrosse championship in 2014, posting a 13-5 overall record and a 6-1 mark inside the Ancient Eight. The Quakers captured the program’s third Ivy League Tournament title to automatically qualify for the NCAA Tournament, winning their first round game over Canisius before falling to eventual national champion, Maryland, in the second round.

The Red and Blue will return 11 starters from the 2014 season next year in addition to the return of 2013 Ivy League Midfielder of the Year Shannon Mangini who missed all of 2014 with injury.
