PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's rowing team hosted Princeton and Dartmouth Saturday on the Schuylkill River, as the teams competed for the Class of 1984 Award Plaque.
Princeton swept the day, winning all six races that were contested. In the varsity 8, the Tigers clocked 6:45.4 over the 2,000-meter course to defeat Dartmouth (6:52.3) and Penn (7:04.4).
In the second varsity 8, Princeton won in 6:53.6, while Penn was second in 7:05.1 and Dartmouth was third in 7:08.6. In the other NCAA boat race, the varsity 4, Princeton's 7:58.2 was ahead of Dartmouth (8:16.5) and Penn (8:19.6). Only one other race featured all three schools, the varsity 4 B, with Princeton winning in 8:05.2 followed by Penn (8:11.7) and Dartmouth (8:33.5).
Penn and Princeton also contested a third varsity 8 and a varsity 4 C race. In the 3V8, Princeton won in 7:20.1 ahead of Penn (7:43.8), while in the varsity 4 C the Tigers clocked 8:13.7 to defeat the Quakers (8:37.9).
Saturday's races were the final regular-season races for the Penn women. Their next competition will be the inaugural Ivy League Rowing Championships, which will take place Sunday, May 13 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
