Ivy League Championships information PHILADELPHIA - The Penn women's rowing team almost always spends the second Sunday in May racing on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. That will again be the case this Sunday. However, for the first time in history the event that they will race is not the EAWRC Sprints, but rather the Ivy League Championships. The eight institutions have split off of the EAWRC championship event this year, looking ahead to next year when the NCAA begins using automatic qualifiers from each conference to determine its championship field. Penn has seen every Ivy crew this year with the exceptions of Brown and Radcliffe (Harvard), so the Quakers know what they are up against. "This year has built toward one race, and that journey culminates this Sunday with the first ever Ivy League Championships," said head coach Mike Lane. "Our journey has been a long one. However, our team is ready and excited to take on the challenge of racing in the most competitive league in the country! 2012 IVY LEAGUE WOMEN'S ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS SCHEDULE PENN WOMEN'S ROWING BOATINGS Third Varsity 8 (final at 3 p.m.) Varsity 4 B (3:30 p.m.) Varsity 4 A (3:45-3:55 p.m.) Second Varsity 8 (4:10-4:20 p.m.) Varsity 8 (4:35-4:45 p.m.) |
