HANOVER, N.H. - The Penn field hockey team allowed a goal in the first minute of the second half, and that proved to be enough for Dartmouth as the host Big Green defeated the Quakers, 2-0, Saturday at Chase Field. Dartmouth (5-4, 2-1 Ivy) got the lead that it would not relinquish just 51 seconds into the second half when Ali Savage scored a shot from the high circle over Carly Sokach's right shoulder. Maya Herm added an insurance tally with just under 11 minutes to play with a blast from the top of the circle. Dartmouth outshot Penn, 22-11. Sarah Hasson had four shots to lead the Quakers (5-4, 1-2 Ivy), while Emily Corcoran, Elizabeth Hitti and Sunny Stirewalt had two apiece. Sokach ended the game with eight saves. Penn returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Lafayette Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. start. |
