PHILADELPHIA -
The 2011-12 heavyweight rowing season ended with Penn gliding on serious waves of momentum as the Quakers posted their best finishes at EARC Sprints and IRAs under the Nicholas B. Paumgarten Head Coach of Men's Heavyweight Crew Greg Myhr. Finishes of 11th at both highly regarded regattas have Penn anxious to launch back into the water to start Myhr's fourth season as head coach of the Red and Blue. The 2012-13 season begins on Saturday with the annual Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River.

Last year, Penn showed signs of what was to come with a solid opening race for the varsity eight, finishing third in the Open/Collegiate 8+, missing out on second by just .02 seconds. Third was a fixture in the rankings for Penn last year at Navy Day, as the JV 8+ and Novice 8+ also took third. In pairs, Penn boats accounted for five of the top six finishers.
