Final Women's Results (pdf)

Easton, Pa. -
What can you say that the Penn's women's cross country team didn't already make abundantly clear to its opponents on Saturday at the Leopard Invitational? In a stunningly impressive performance, the Quakers put their top five runners all within the overall top 10 in the field at Lafayette, accumulating only 21 points and blowing away the competition to earn their first team championship of the 2012 season. Second place Pittsburgh was well behind with 78 points while no one else in the field was able to hold their point total to double-digits.

Senior Leslie Kovach earned her first career victory, breaking the tape in a time of 21:03.48. She had two second place finishes to her credit as a sophomore. Finishing shortly behind her in second place was freshman Hannah Grossman, who came across in 21:09.93 in the 6K race. Kersie Jhabvala continued her strong junior campaign with a fourth place finish on Saturday, becoming the third Penn runner across the line in 21:23.33. Hot on her heels was senior Margaret Diacont in 21:26.16. Closing out Penn's scoring was freshman Elyssa Gensib in ninth place, running a time of 21:39.10.

Those five weren't the only ones to run strong races for the Quakers. Non-scorers Chelsea Delaney (22:16.92, 20th place) and Lauren Murphy (22:37.60, 28th place) also ran well for Penn on Saturday.

The Red and Blue are next in action in two weeks at the Ivy League Heptagonals race. Action from Princeton's West Windsor Fields will get going at 11 a.m. on October 27.
