Final Doubles Bracket (pdf)

West Point, N.Y.
- After winning four matches over the weekend to reach Monday's semifinals, Penn's doubles team of Sol Eskenazi and Sonya Latycheva continued their amazing play by downing a pair of Ivy League opponents in the semifinals and finals to claim the Women's ITA Northeast Regional doubles championship. Running their record to a perfect 8-0 in matches they've played together this fall, the duo has now earned the right to compete in next month's USTA/ITA National Collegiate Indoor Championships, held at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. from Nov. 8-11.

Entering the tournament as the No. 3 seed, Eskenazi and Latycheva quickly dispatched their opponents in the first two rounds but met more resistance as the bracket played out. In the Round of 16 they met an unseeded team from Columbia, but one that featured singles No. 1 seed Nicole Bartnik. After an 8-6 win in that match, they were off to the quarterfinals where they again claimed an 8-6 win, this one coming over No. 8 seed Elizabeth Epstein and Hanna Yu of Yale.

While the team was advancing in doubles, Eskenazi was also busy in the singles tournament, winning a pair of three-set matches to advance to the Round of 16 where she finally succumbed to Yale's Epstein in another three-set ordeal.

With the singles competition out of the way, the two Quakers made quick work of the No. 1 seed in the tournament, Princeton's Lindsay Graff and Amanda Muliawan, by a score of 8-2 in Monday's semifinals. That victory advanced Penn into today's finals where they fought off a challenge from the No. 2 seeded team, Bianca Sanon and Tiana Takenaga of Columbia, to win the championship by a score of 8-6.

Eskenazi and Latycheva now move to the Indoor Championships where they will be one of only 20 doubles pairs from across the country that have earned the right to compete. A draw for that event will be released in the coming weeks.
