LANCASTER, PA. – The fifth-ranked Penn women’s squash team (6-1, 1-1 Ivy) has continued its outstanding season with yet another flawless victory, defeating No. 15 Franklin & Marshall (4-4), 9-0, at the Mayser Squash Center in Lancaster, Pa. on Wednesday night without losing a single game.

Stepping up into the No. 1 position for the Red and Blue was Haidi Lala (5-0, 2-0). The freshman has been excellent this season and has yet to lose a collegiate match. Her first three wins of the season came at No. 4, and after succeeding at the No. 3 position against Dartmouth last Saturday, she earned the top spot in the ladder against F&M.

Other players that made an impact were tri-captain Stephanie Vogel (3-0, 1-0) – the senior played at the No. 5 position for the first time this season – and Hyland Murphy (1-0) – the junior made her season debut in the victory over the Diplomats at No. 9.

The Quakers defeat of Franklin & Marshall also showcased their exceptional depth as they played the match without their regular one, two, and three position players – Nabilla Ariffin, Yan Xin, and Rachael Goh were given the day off just days removed from the first Ivy weekend of the season. Penn is now 34-9 all-time against the Diplomats, and currently owns a 16-game win streak in the series.

The Red and Blue will be back in action on Jan. 19 at noon as they welcome third-ranked Trinity to the Ringe Squash Courts.
