PHILADELPHIA – Just days after helping her team to its fourth-highest overall score in program history at The Palestra, Kirsten Strausbaugh was named ECAC Gymnast of the Week for the first time this season.
The co-captain dominated on her Senior Day against Bridgeport on Feb. 17, scoring a season-high 38.925 to place third in the all-around. In addition to tying her season-high on vault and beam, Strausbaugh finished her day by tying her career-high on floor with a 9.875 to tie for second place – the score was the 11th-highest in program history.
The Virginia Beach, Va. native is a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier and USAG All-American. She was named to the All-ECAC First-Team for bars and floor as a junior, and the Second-Team for floor as a sophomore.
Strausbaugh will lead her team once again this weekend when the Red and Blue travel to New Haven, Conn. for the Ivy Classic. Penn enters as the two-time defending champion, and looks to improve on its season-high 193.975 from last weekend en route to a third consecutive Ivy title.
