PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Casey Kent was dominant on the mat this weekend for No. 23 Penn, winning both of his matches by technical fall as the Quakers cruised past both Princeton and Drexel. For his efforts, Kent was named EIWA Wrestler of the Week.
On Saturday, Kent won his first match in the Penn-Princeton rivalry with a 15-0 tech fall over Judd Ziegler early in the second period. Kent followed that up with a 17-2 win over Drexel's Connor Moran on Sunday. Over the two bouts, Kent scored four takedowns and eight different sets of nearfall points.
Kent leads the Quakers with 22 wins this season,with 12 wins coming with bonus points for the team. In duals, Kent finished his first season as a Quaker with a 10-3 record and he was 7-1 against EIWA opponents.
The honor is the first EIWA Wrestler of the Week nod for Penn this season and first for the Quakers since Steven Graziano earned the recognition On Feb. 13 of last season.
