PHILADELPHIA - After two strong swims at the 2013 Ivy League Championships and a conference title in the 1650 Freestyle, freshman Chris Swanson has earned a bid to the NCAA Men's Division I Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis. The Championships will be held from March 28-30 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.

Penn's leader in the distance freestyle events throughout the season, Swanson dropped his times significantly at the Ivy League Championships, ending the weekend with new school records in the 500, 1000 and 1650 Free, along with top-three finishes in each event and a first-place showing the 1650 by nearly seven full seconds. He will compete in the 500 and 1650 Freestyle events on the national stage. His Ivy League-winning time of 15:02.11 in the 1650 Freestyle is currently the 26th fastest time in the nation. In the 500 Freestyle, his Penn record of 4:21.82 sits at 53rd-best in the country going into the Championships.

The Championships will be held from March 28-30 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI. Preliminary heats and finals for the 500 Freestyle will be contested on March 28, with the 1650 Freestyle set for the final night of competition on March 30.
