PHILADELPHIA - A week with the British teams from Oxford and Cambridge is behind them. Now the University of Pennsylvania women's track and field team will set their sights on the George Mason Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va., on Saturday.

Saturday's meet will start at noon with the women's hammer and the men's javelin. The first track event is the 100-meter dash at 1 p.m. The afternoon concludes with the 4x400-meter relay at 4:25 p.m., while the distance events begin at 7 p.m. with the 800 meters and are set to finish with the men's 5,000 meters at 9:40 p.m.

Last week, in the biennial matchup with Oxford and Cambridge, Penn combined with Cornell to take on the British duo. This year, the historic track meet was held in Ithaca, N.Y., on Saturday, and the American Universities remained unbeaten in the transatlantic series with wins in 15 of the 19 events.

Junior Gabrielle Piper and freshman Serena Graf won the 100-meter hurdles and hammer, respectively, to score for the Penn-Cornell duo. Their British counterparts then spent much of the next week in Philadelphia with the Quakers.

Coming up soon, the 119th edition of the Penn Relays is set for April 25-27 at Franklin Field. Last year, the three-day attendance totaled 117,346. Get your tickets for the 2013 Penn Relays here.

A full recap will be available at PennAthletics.com shortly after the conclusion of the meet.
